Financing
Should I use a business loan or sell equity?
Loans and equity solve different problems: repayment and control vs. shared upside and risk. Match the instrument to cash flow, collateral, and growth profile.

Business loans (debt)
Loans typically require predictable cash flow for repayment and may require collateral or personal guarantees depending on lender policy. Interest and principal schedules are contractual.
Debt often suits businesses with stable margins financing inventory, equipment, or short-term expansion where repayment sources are identifiable.
Equity investment
Equity investors share ownership and long-term outcomes. They may accept higher risk when upside potential is large, but expect governance rights and return expectations aligned with growth.
Equity is common when repayment from near-term cash flow is uncertain but scalable commercial models exist.
Decision cues
Neither option is universally better. Evaluate cost of capital, dilution, covenants, and what evidence of commercial performance you can present. CPS records and pathway classification help organize that evidence for independent providers.
