Metrics
What financial metrics do lenders and investors review?
Revenue quality, margins, liquidity, leverage, and cash conversion metrics underpin credit and investment decisions. A practical checklist for businesses.
Educational overview only—not investment, legal, tax, or lending advice. CPS does not provide funding; independent providers make their own decisions.
Profitability and margins
Gross margin, contribution margin, and operating margin show whether sales fund operations. Trends matter as much as point-in-time values.
Liquidity and coverage
Lenders often review cash balances, current ratio, and debt service coverage (cash available vs. scheduled debt payments). Investors may focus more on growth efficiency metrics.
Commercial activity indicators
Customer concentration, repeat purchase rates, fulfillment reliability, and refund/chargeback rates indicate quality of revenue. CPS reporting structures aim to make these comparable across periods.
